"WHERE IS THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO LOCATED?"

The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage will be located in Portugal. We are presently looking at various properties as a possible forever home for the project.

"WHO OWNS THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

Ownership of The Alcateia do Lobo property will be held by a Community Land Trust known as the Alcateia do Lobo Tribal Land Trust (ADLTLT). This means that as the official owner of the property, the ADLTLT will always be responsible for the management of, and have the final say, in all The Alcateia do Lobo property matters, in perpetuity. It also means that individual tribal households would not own their individual homesites or any of the remaining The Alcateia do Lobo Property. Instead, each household owns a share in The Alcateia do Lobo Tribal Land Trust and as shareholders, they are the joint owners of the entire property. In exchange for their share, they are granted exclusive use of their own, private single acre homesite and full access to the remainder of the entire The Alcateia do Lobo property. Each individual homesite is registered in the name of the respective Household Shareholder which in turn is entitled to all rights to the homesite in perpetuity (which would include bequeathing these rights to their children or, until such time as the respective share is sold back to The Alcateia do Lobo Tribal Land Trust or to a new Wolf Tribe Member approved by The Alcateia do Lobo Tribal Land Trust.

"HOW DO I JOIN THE WOLF TRIBE AT THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

We do however, also have a team responsible for this aspect of ecovillage life which will gladly assist you through the entire process.

"WHY IS THERE A SCREENING PROCESS TO JOIN THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

Although the Wolf Tribe would maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination of any kind whatsoever, in the interests of the long-term survival of The Wolf Tribe itself, it must adhere to a strict community membership and evaluation process.

Furthermore, in the interests of a fruitful, long-term relationship, both the existing Wolf Tribe members and the new, would-be tribe member must “connect” at several levels. It is vital that the would-be tribe member has the maturity to leave his/her ego behind and is prepared to join the community with a desirable attitude.

To this end, all would-be Wolf Tribe Members are required to complete an in-depth questionnaire which enables us to evaluate whether they would be able to live with The Wolf Tribe at The Alcateia do Lobo and whether The Wolf Tribe would be able to live with them!

WHAT ARE THE FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF JOINING THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?

"HOW WILL I BE ABLE TO EARN A LIVING AT THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

Generating an income at The Alcateia do Lobo is classified in three different categories.  

The first category are those Wolf Tribe Members who would generate their income from their own businesses and activities which they bring with them, when they arrive at the Ecovillage.

The second category are those Wolf Tribe Members who would generate their income from the various business opportunities that would be available at the Ecovillage itself.

The third category is the income which is generated by the Wolf Tribe's community activities, products, services and experiences.

"HOW SAFE WILL MY INVESTMENT BE IN THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?" 

Firstly, as mentioned already, the Alcateia do Lobo property is owned by THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO TRIBAL LAND TRUST (the ADLTLT), which in turn, leases a defined number of single-acre allotments to the members of the Wolf Tribe at Alcateia do Lobo. 

One of the principle conditions of being able to invest in the Alcateia do Lobo Project and acquire one of these homesites is that the Tribe Member must be a paid-up Shareholder of the Alcateia do Lobo Cooperative. As a paid-up Shareholder with a formal Share Certificate, the Wolf Tribe member would automatically appear on the Register of Members of the ADLTLT as well as that of the Alcateia do Lobo Cooperative, and be in possession of all associated and substantiating, legal documentation to this effect. Included in this documentation is The Memorandum of Association which details amongst others, the Terms and Conditions of Shareholder’s Membership of the Alcateia do Lobo Cooperative. 

In conclusion, the ownership model chosen for the Alcateia do Lobo property and the entire process of meeting the requirements to join the Wolf Tribe at Alcateia do Lobo along with the corroborating documentation associated herewith, has been developed to offer the Member, the most secure and legal recourse possible!

WHAT FORM OF GOVERNANCE WILL THERE BE AT THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?

The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage works within a Sociocratic Dynamic Governance model to create a fluid and efficient integration of the many roles and contributions that create The Alcateia do Lobo that is also in line with the core the values of equality and respect for diversity.

Wolf Tribe Members participate in the management of The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage in a number of ways and everyone is part of a team that is connected to the central, decision making hub; a Council of Elders known as The Circle of Feathers. 

Roles are assigned and chosen with respect for each person’s vision and talent while seeking to balance responsibility and accountability for the long-term outcomes of the decisions made.

The various “CIRCLES OF STONES” are comprised of specialist Wolf Tribe Members who are responsible for managing the various aspects of The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage:

Each Circles of Stones operates freely within given parameters in its own area of responsibility for the Ecovillage. Each is responsible for educating its own members in its work and keeping its own records. 

Each Circle of Stones is headed up by the Wolf Tribe’s leading elder in that particular field who in turn, form the Wolf Tribe’s Council of Elders known as:

THE CIRCLE OF FEATHERS

Beyond the Circles of Stones are the Pebble Circles which are often temporary, specialised task groups, formed to address specific projects required by the day-to-day running of the Ecovillage at The Alcateia do Lobo. Pebble Circles are comprised of Wolf Tribe members who are experienced and or qualified in the particular field as well as other members of the community who have been requested to join the working detail.

"WHAT ARE THE CORE BELIEFS THAT HOLD THE WOLF TRIBE TOGETHER?" 

Of paramount importance to all of us at The Alcateia do Lobo, is to avoid establishing this truly inspirational eco-village on a beautiful property only to import the very madness that we decided to turn our collective backs on.  The Wolf Tribe at The Alcateia do Lobo wishes to do things differently, not just for the sake of doing them differently, but rather for the sake of doing things consciously and therefore, better.

Furthermore, in order for it to be of any significant merit, this approach must be applicable to every aspect of life within the Alcateia do Lobo community – from interacting with one another, to locating a road, to designing a home, to teaching the children of our Tribe.

In finding our course, we have turned to the wisdom of the traditional elders from the four corners of the earth, from the past and from the present, and from different spiritual paths, learned the lessons they have had to share with us, and borrowed from the enduring richness of their cultures. 

The Wolf Tribe recognises the divisiveness that has been so successfully sown to the masses by our religious leaders, our academics, our opportunists, our politicians and our governments, so the Wolf Tribe is obliged to avoid divisiveness within our community, and to rather embrace our diversity and our differences, instead.

The Wolf Tribe recognises the unsustainable global abuse of natural resources so the Wolf Tribe consciously embraces sustainability and the regenerative philosophy, in all its forms. 

The Wolf Tribe recognises the failings of an obsolete international education system so the Wolf Tribe is committed to encouraging our younger generation to think for themselves rather than what to think! 

The Wolf Tribe recognises the inadequacies of the various systems of governance throughout the nations of the world, so the Tribe must make every effort to develop an effective and transparent means of managing the rights, responsibilities and aspirations of each and every member of our community.

"WHAT IS THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO STANDPOINT ON FREE SEX & SEXUALITY IN GENERAL?"

The Alcateia do Lobo standpoint is that an individual's sexual journey is unique and personal and should therefore be respected. Whatever that sexual journey may be, the Wolf Tribe would encourage that it is pursued with consciousness and that awareness and respect for fellow members (including minors), of the Tribe is maintained at all times.

The Wolf Tribe does not practice free sex.  The Alcateia do Lobo does however, subscribe to nourishing sexuality in safe spaces such as The Red Tent and in some of our other Spiritual Realms.

"WHAT IS THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO STANDPOINT ON SPIRITUALITY?" 

The Wolf Tribe as a 'spiritual community' denotes that we are creating a special place and an equally special Tribe, where each member's unique path to God is valued and respected.  The Alcateia do Lobo will be a place where each Wolf Tribe member is able to explore his or her own spiritual nature without being shunned or excluded as their values and beliefs evolve over time.

The Wolf Tribe recognises that while holistic wellness considers the whole individual, including emotional, social, vocational, intellectual and environmental factors — along with physical well-being, spiritual wellness helps enhance the connection between the mind and the body.

"WHAT IS THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO STANDPOINT ON ANIMALS IN GENERAL?"

The Wolf Tribe at The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage recognises animals in general as sentient beings. 

Animal sentience refers to the ability of animals to experience pleasurable states such as joy, and aversive states such as pain and fear. The science of animal sentience underpins animal welfare consciousness.

 

"WILL ANIMALS BE SLAUGHTERED AT THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

The Wolf Tribe has decided unanimously that no slaughtering or butchering of animals will be allowed on the Alcateia do Lobo property

"I'M A MEAT-EATER, WILL I BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

Yes, however, you would be required to purchase your meat products from outside of the Alcateia do Lobo property and the preparation and consumption of these products will be restricted to your own, private homesite. The various catering facilities in the ecovillage will not be catering for meat-eaters.

"I'M VEGETARIAN, DO I HAVE TO BE VEGAN TO JOIN THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

Vegetarians are most welcome so there is no need to become vegan in order to join the Wolf Tribe at The Alcateia do Lobo Ecovillage.

"WHAT WILL BE DONE ABOUT EDUCATION FOR THE CHILDREN OF THE WOLF TRIBE?"

At The Alcateia do Lobo, our children are very precious, and it is with them in mind that The Triquetra Centres of Learning have been included in the Master Development Plan. 

These Centres of Learning will be comprised, amongst others, of the following elements:

     The Triquetra Pre-school & Childcare Centre

For whatever reason, parents who would be unable to look after their little ones during the day would be able to leave them in the very capable care of the team at the Wolf Tribe's preschool and childcare centre.

The Triquetra Pre-school & Childcare Centre would be influenced by the Reggio Emilio philosophy and be inspired by the principles of un-schooling. 

     The Triquetra Green School

Our school will prepare students to be stewards of the environment and teach them to be critical and creative thinkers, who champion the sustainability and regeneration of the world and the environment.

The curriculum would be based on the Three Frame Day structure, which includes the Integral Frame, the Instructional Frame, and the Experiential Frame. Subjects include English, mathematics and science, including ecology, the environment and sustainability, as well as the creative arts, global awareness, permaculture, ecological sustainability, environmental management, anthropology and sociology.

"WILL I BE ALLOWED TO HAVE MY PET/S WITH ME AT THE ALCATEIA DO LOBO?"

The Wolf Tribe has no intention or desire to impose rules and regulations at The Alcateia do Lobo however, there will be a need for the consensual formulation of Guiding Policies. One of these is the Tribe’s Policy on Pet Animals. Therefore, provided owners and pets residing at the ecovillage adhere to the Policy on Pet Animals, there should be no reason why you should not have your pet animals with you.  

Our principle objectives with this policy would be the safety of all our Tribe Members and the safety of the many creatures we share the property with. Then there is the consideration of disturbance - none of us would welcome a conflict resulting from the incessant barking of one Tribe Member's dog and the effect it has on the nerves of his/her neighbouring Tribe Member. The Pet Policy is therefore, a document that will require careful reflection and each case will have to be assessed on its own merit.

"DOES THE WOLF TRIBE SHARE CERTAIN RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL BELIEFS?"

The Wolf Tribe is not religious but seeks instead, to explore the wisdom of all the prophets.

We believe that there is a distinct difference between religion and spirituality, where religion usually refers to an organized set of beliefs by a group of people who see themselves as different from others, while spirituality deals with the individuals beliefs, practices and attempts to relate to God, to the universe, to others and to themselves.

The Wolf Tribe adopts attitudes of direct line to Source, and living love, compassion, tolerance etc. 

The Wolf Tribe has no problem therefore, with religious members joining the tribe provided they honour and respect the spiritual journeys of their fellow Tribe Members.

Yes! The Wolf Tribe would like our community to be representative of all age groups.
